FLOWERS WILL BLOOM

Flowers, flowers will bloom

Pure and bold, will bloom in our hearts.

White, young people will strive,

Resolutely for change, lighting flames of conviction.

Knowledge, against delusion

Step forward, towards the masses.

Life, ready to sacrifice

Through the confusion, for the good of the people.

Flowers, bloom with all their worth

Slowly may they bloom, to last forever.

Here, there and everywhere

Fresh flowers, for all people.

Chiranan Pitpreecha (Tailandia, 1955). Fue una reconocida figura del movimiento estudiantil tailandés de los años setenta. Después de la violenta opresión escapó a la jungla, conjuntamente con miles de estudiantes Thai, y se unió a la insurrección comunista. Estas experiencias inspiraron su primer libro de poemas 'The Missing Leaf', el cuál ganó el prestigioso Premio de Escritores del Sudeste Asiático. En 1992 “First Rain” (Primera Lluvia) fue seleccionado como “Mejor Poema del Año” por el P.E.N International de Tailandia.

Chiranan Pitpreecha (Thailand, 1955). She was a well-known figure in the 1970s student movement in Thailand. Following the violent suppression in 1976, she, along with thousands of Thai students, fled to the jungle and joined the Communist insurrection. Almost immediately after she returned from the jungle in 1981, under the protection of amnesty law, her poem,Cracked Pebble was selected "The best Poem of 1981" by P.E.N. International, Thailand. In 1989 The Missing Leaf, her first poetry book based on personal experiences in the jungle, won the prestigious South East Asia Write Award. In 1992 P.E.N. International, Thailand, selected “First Rain” as “The Best Poem of the Year”.
